Abstract
Bearings are the main foundation of moving machine elements. A mechanical component that reduces friction between moving parts in a machine. Bearings can with stand axial and radial loads. The bearings must also be sturdy enough to allow the shaft and other machine elements to work properly. If the bearings cannot function properly, the entire system will degrade or will not work optimally. Bearings must have several requirements, including being able to support the load, withstand temperatures and other variables, so that the rotation or back and forth movement can take place safely, smoothly and with a long life. Therefore, determining the age of the bearing is very important, because if we know the service life of the bearing it is hoped that it can help determine the replacement time interval and prevent damage to other components resulting from bearing failure. Bearing failure can be caused by life time, vibration, incorrect lubrication, and so on. Therefore, to find failures in the 7316 BECBJ bearing, use the fault tree method. We can use this method because it is easy to find the common thread of failure. By collecting existing possible causes. The results of research by carrying out lifetime calculations based on existing data show that failures do occur when the bearing life has exceeded its usage limit, resulting in a decrease in bearing performance which results in damage to other bearing parts. So several recommendations must be made, namely replacement or replacement of bearings.
