Abstract
This research examines the urgency of plagiarism guidelines in registering copyright for cinematographic works in the advertising sector in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to analyze forms of copyright plagiarism in the advertising sector and examine in depth the urgency of plagiarism guidelines as an instrument of legal protection in copyright registration in Indonesia. The research method used is normative juridical. The results and discussion show that plagiarism in copyright in the advertising sector occurs very often and can eliminate company income due to plagiarism carried out by parties who plagiarize and make it into commercial advertising. Apart from that, the urgency of plagiarism guidelines regarding copyright registration is needed to ensure that the implementation of copyright registration can minimize plagiarism which has the potential to steal other people's work with indications that elements of other people's work are greater than the original work by changing the provisions of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright and Government Regulation Number 16 of 2020 concerning Registration of Copyright and Related Rights Products by including indicators that will be included in the copyright plagiarism guidelines. Apart from that, the concept of these guidelines will provide preventive legal protection and more legal certainty to parties who wish to register copyright for their creations so that in the future it does not give rise to copyright disputes or legal problems of a civil or criminal nature.
