Abstract

South Asian Association Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is a South Asian regional organization which was formed on December 8 1985. SAARC currently has 8 member countries, namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. South Asia is expected to become an advanced region in terms of economic growth, seeing that the population in this region has reached 1,947,628,100 million people, which is a very large number in the eyes of the market, therefore SAARC was formed to build cooperation between countries in South Asia, especially in economics. Apart from cooperation in the economic sector, SAARC was also inherited by the prolonged conflict between two large countries in South Asia, namely India and Pakistan. The conflict between the two started a long time ago, namely in 1947 when the two countries were involved in the dispute over the Jammu and Kashmir region. The conflict between India and Pakistan is not limited to territorial disputes, but also spreads to various other fields such as the struggle for natural resources and terrorism. The dispute between the two countries, which has never ended and seems to drag on, has had an impact on the cooperation process between South Asian countries and the performance of SAARC itself. Therefore, this research will discuss SAARC's steps in resolving the conflict between India and Pakistan, especially in the period 2010 to 2020.
