Abstract
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection continues to be a case that requires special attention for prevention. HIV is a virus capable of reducing the immune system's ability to fight foreign substances in the human body. The spread of HIV in Indonesia tends to be focused on key populations, including men who have sex with men (MSM). The aim of this research is to determine the risk factors significantly associated with HIV incidence among MSM in Indonesia in 2019. This study used secondary data from the 2019 Integrated Biological and Behavioral Survey (IBBS) obtained from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design. The applied analyses included chi-square and Cox regression tests. The results indicated that HIV testing, syphilis, age, commercial sex, educational level, health insurance ownership, marital status, and history of alcohol consumption are associated with HIV incidence among MSM. The study concluded that HIV testing is the most influential factor in HIV incidence among MSM in Indonesia. Therefore, multisectoral collaboration is needed to effectively implement HIV prevention, especially for the vulnerable MSM group.
