Abstract

Based on 2021 data, Asia has the highest colorectal cancer incidence rate compared to other regions with a percentage of 52.3%. Meanwhile, there were 17,368 new cases and 9,444 deaths from colorectal cancer in Indonesia. As many as 90% of colorectal cancer histopathological features indicate a type of adenocarcinoma. Previous research has shown that anemia is the symptom that has the best positive predictive value (PPV) in assessing potential mortality. Anemia is assessed through examination of hemoglobin and MCV levels. Various studies have been conducted to assess the relationship between anemia and the survival rate of colorectal adenocarcinoma patients, but there have not been many studies linking it to the degree of differentiation of this cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hemoglobin and MCV levels with the degree of differentiation of colorectal adenocarcinoma patients. This research is included in the type of quantitative analytics with a cross-sectional design conducted at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, Jakarta. Secondary data were obtained from medical record data of colorectal adenocarcinoma patients from January 2022 to October 2023. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The total sample of this study was 58 patients. The p-value of hemoglobin content with degree of differentiation is 0.198 and p-value of MCV level with degree of differentiation is 0.576. There was no significant association between hemoglobin and MCV levels and the degree of differentiation of colorectal adenocarcinoma in this study.
