Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of liquidity, profitability and capital on financial distress with company size as a moderating variable. This research uses life insurance companies registered with the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) in 2020-2021 as the research sample. Financial distress, which is the dependent variable in this research, will be measured using the Altman Z-score, while independent variables such as liquidity using Current Assets (CR), profitability using Premium Growth Ratio (PGR), and capital using Return on Equity (ROE). In addition, company size as a moderating variable in this research will be measured by the natural logarithm of total assets. By using the purposive sampling method, 43 samples were studied in this research. Testing in this research uses panel data regression with the STATA v.17 application. The research results show that liquidity has a significant negative influence on financial distress. Meanwhile, profitability and capital do not have a significant influence on financial distress. And research results related to moderating variables, company size cannot moderate the influence of liquidity, profitability and capital on financial distress.
