Abstract

Stroke is a challenge for global health because it can cause physical disability. Thrombosis in the brain will cause thrombus formation and clog the brain, causing a stroke. D-dimer is useful for determining the presence of freezing and breakdown of thrombus. This study aims to determine the relationship between D-dimer values and infarction area based on MRI images in ischemic stroke patients. This study used an observational analytical cross sectional study design. Data was collected from 96 ischemic stroke patients at Gatot Soebroto Hospital in 2023. The value of d-dimer is assessed using the patient's medical record. The area of infarction is assessed based on ASPECTS using the patient's medical record. The results showed that most of the respondents, namely as many as 36 respondents (37.5%) were in the Normal and small infarction categories and there was a relationship between D-Dimer and the size of infarction area with a significancy value in the results showed (p 0.000 > 0.05). The correlation test results show (r = 0.391) which indicates that the relationship is weakly correlated.
