Abstract

PT Gunung Maja Pratama is one of the companies operating in the polymer industry, specializing in the production of 1-liter TMO Oil Bottles. Over a period of 6 months, the company manufactured a total of 893,434 units of TMO 1-liter Oil Bottles, with a count of defective products reaching 34,779 units. The purpose of this research is to enhance the quality of the TMO 1-liter Oil Bottle products. The research method employed in this study is the Six Sigma method using the DMAIC cycle. The research results indicate that the TMO 1-liter Oil Bottle product has an average DPMO value of 39,334.1661 and an average sigma level of 3.27. The most prevalent type of defect is fish eye defects, accounting for 85%. The occurrence of fish eye defects is attributed to material factors, such as the imperfect shape of plastic seeds and raw materials contaminated with dust. The FMEA analysis results indicate that the cause with an RPN above the critical value is the imperfect shape of plastic seeds, scoring an RPN of 27, as determined from conducted interviews. Therefore, the proposed improvements that the company can implement in the near future include conducting quality inspections on received products from suppliers and inspecting raw materials before initiating the production process.
