Abstract
This research is aimed to criticized carbon tax that will be applied in Indonesia. The scope of this research is within the frame of justice according to Islam by using a humanist-theocentric approach. The results of this study shows that carbon tax in several countries is very possible to adopt and could be very effective in application. However, the purpose of this carbon tax is not on the right target because human, as a Khalifah, has been given a mandate from Allah SWT to protect the environment. The purpose of this carbon tax is also not entirely to protect the environment and is more aimed at increasing state revenues and making the people suffer, especially on low-income households. In conclusion, the government needs to review how this carbon tax management is done, since the poor management of this tax could result in injustice and deviation from the purpose of the carbon tax itself.
