Abstract
Indonesia is ranked second in the number of tuberculosis cases in the world, especially in West Java province. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The anti-tuberculosis drug guide contains four types of drugs (Isoniasid, Rifampicin, Pyrazinamid, and Ethambutol). Guidelines for tuberculosis treatment in Indonesia include two types of fixed-dose combination anti-tuberculosis drug packages (FDC) and separated formulation with different dosage forms. This affects the occurrence of side effects. This study aims to evaluate the side effects of FDC and separated formulation in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Sumedang Regional Hospital in 2022. This study was a cross-sectional observational study with 60 samples selected by consecutive sampling. Data were collected from patients' medical records and analyzed using univariate and bivariate Chi-square tests. The results of univariate analysis found that the characteristics of most research subjects were over 60 years old and male. The most use of anti-tuberculosis drugs is FDC which is 65% with the most side effects are mild side effects which are 66.7%. The results of bivariate analysis found that there was a relationship between dosage forms and side effects with a value of p = 0.022. The use of FDC tends to increase the incidence of side effects compared to separated formulation.
