Abstract

Particulate Matter ≤2.5 micrometers (PM2.5) is one of the pollutants released from cement industry activities. These pollutants can precipitate in alveoli and cause health problems. Communities around cement industry are considered at risk due to high pollutant concentrations for a long time. The aim of this research is to estimated health risks caused by exposure PM2.5 in community around Citeureup cement industry in 2023. The risk was calculated using the Environmental Health Risk Assessment (ERHA) method which generate individual daily exposure intake values based on concentration values, activity patterns, and anthropometric value. PM2.5 concentration obtained from direct measurements using Quest EVM-7. This research was conducted from April to June 2023. This research involved 153 respondents from the community around Citeureup cement industry which were divided into 10 locations using simple random sampling technique. The concentration still below the quality standard. The ARKL calculation results show that there is realtime risk ranging from 0.002 – 1.533 and a maximum lifetime risk ranging from 0.255 – 1.533. This shows that there are respondents in locations with maximum concentration that have value Risk Quotient (RQ)>1, which means that PM2.5 exposure is to be unsafe and poses a risk of causing health problems.
