Abstract

Payment systems are an important part of the economy, especially in ensuring that consumers and businesses can make payment transactions. The Covid-19 virus that recently hit Indonesia disrupted the country's transition from a cash to non-cash payment system, or from paper money to electronic money. This has an impact on how the country's currency circulates. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of electronic money, electronic money reading devices, and the Covid-19 outbreak on the circulation of money in Indonesia. The data collection method used is literature study. The data in this study is time series data with a total of 35 observations. This information is taken from the official websites of Bank Indonesia and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The population used in this study is data on the rate of circulation of money, electronic money, electronic money reader machines, and the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesian territory, with the same variable sample with an annual time span from 2013Q1 to 2021Q3. The study approach used is OLS using the Eviews 10 software. The findings show that all independent factors, namely electronic money, electronic money readers, and the Covid-19 outbreak, have a significant negative effect on money circulation in Indonesia.
