Abstract
This research focuses on Burundi as one of the countries experiencing hunger issues at an alarming level where people cannot get access to food. This is not in line with the goal to be achieved in the SDGs "Zero Hunger". Resolving the issue of hunger in Burundi requires the intervention of other parties, in which case WFP carries out a mandate in an effort to eliminate hunger in Burundi which refers to the targets and indicators in the SDGs as a reference. This research aims to discuss the role played by the WFP on the issue of hunger that occurred in Burundi in 2020 through food aid distribution programs using the concepts of SDGs, food security, and the role of international organizations described by Clive Archer. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods where this research shows that Burundi still cannot fulfill the dimensions of food security and the indicators of achieving the SDGs "Zero Hunger". It then shows that WFP has fulfilled its role in the implementation of food aid distribution in Burundi by establishing a CSP that is tailored to Burundi's national policies and SDGs, cooperating not only with the Burundian government but also with other UN agencies, and conducting food aid distribution operations. The results of this study indicate that the food aid distribution program carried out by WFP in Burundi in 2020 is still not sufficiently effective in tackling the issue of hunger in Burundi.
