Abstract

Animal feeds plays a crucial role in livestock growth. Maggot is one of the alternative feed options for livestock. Alternative animal feed production involves a mixture of ingridients such as maggot paste, rice bran, tapioca flour, fish meal, and water. These ingridients need to be mixed together before being used as animal feed. The mixing process is performed using feed mixer machine, which I used to blend the ingridients. The aim of this thesis is to modify the capacity of feed mixer machine so the machine can have larger capacity than the previous mixer and to determine the dimensions of the larger capacity mixer. The development of this animal feed mixer is carried out using literature studies and calculations for mixer tank, engine power, frame, agitator, shaft, pulley, and V-belt. The dimensions of the modified mixer design are obtained through various sources on animal feed mixer production and the use of software for machine rendering. The animal feed mixer has dimensions of 530,033 mm in length, 530,033 in width, and 880 mm in height. It is driven by a 5,5 HP combustion engine with an engine speed of 84 RPM. The type of reducer used is WPA 70 with 1:30 ratio. The tank dimensions are 740 mm in diameter and 580 mm in height, while the power transmission shaft from motor to the gearbox has a diameter of 18 mm, and the engine has diameter of 28 mm. The connecting pulleys have diameters of 120 mm and 70 mm.
