Abstract

High voltage capacitor are high-voltage equipment that has a very important role in the electrical system. Therefore, the insulation media used for high voltage capacitor is also equally important to always be maintained and improved. But so far the material used as an insulating medium is made of mineral materials which are non-renewable, difficult to decompose, and can pollute the environment. This research aims to make, test the DC Translucent Voltage value and compare Methyl Ester Oil made from Rubber Seeds (Rubber Seed Methyl Ester Oil) with Mineral Oil which is commonly used as an insulating material for high voltage equipment. The processes carried out in this study are: Preparation of raw rubber seed oil, Esterification and Trans-esterification reaction process to convert oil into Methyl Ester, DC Breakdown Voltage Testing, and Analysis of test results. The results of this study show the average value of the RSMEO DC Penetrating Voltage Test is at 21.503kV, while for MO it is at 53.6875kV.
