Abstract

The texture and appearance of avocados vary, sometimes it is difficult to determine whether an avocado can be considered ripe or not yet ripe. Apart from that, to determine the ripeness of an avocado, you also need to look carefully at the physical characteristics and texture of the avocado. Therefore, in this journal we will discuss and explain how to determine the ripeness level of an avocado so that it can be declared fit to eat using the KNearest Neighbor (KNN) and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) methods, by taking samples of avocado fruit images from the dataset and photographing them using cell phone camera. The data was then processed to make the classification process easier, then results were obtained with the best settings obtained from the trial, namely a score of 66.66% from 60 avocado image data.
