Abstract
Length of Stay (LOS) is an indicator of efficiency in hospital management. Reducing the length of stay is a priority for hospitals. Some studies have found diabetes to be a risk factor affecting the length of stay after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting surgery. Prolonged Length of Stay (>7 days) can occur due to various risk factors. This research is a cross-sectional analytical study to analyze risk factors for PLOS in patients undergoing CABG surgery and patients in the diabetic group. Samples used are secondary data taken from the medical record. Data were analyzed by chi-square test or Fisher exact when applicable and binary logistic regression. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that the risks of prolonged length of stay for all patients included in the inclusion criteria are, history of diabetes (OR=2.372), age >60 (OR=2.133), hypertension (OR=5.153), postoperative renal injury (OR=2.194), and postoperative infection (OR=3.714). The results of the multivariate analysis showed hypertension (OR=9,423) and diabetes (OR=6,842) as risk factors for prolonged hospitalization in patients undergoing CABG surgery. Risk factors such as hypertension (OR=2,538), renal injury (OR=3,824), and postoperative infection (OR=2,333) are also found in the diabetic group. Diabetes continues to be a risk factor of PLOS along with an age of >60 years. Hypertension, kidney failure, and post-surgery infection also cause PLOS in patients undergoing CABG and patients within the subgroup of diabetics.
