Abstract
The impact of the use of conventional fuels which has a detrimental impact on gas emissions, especially in the shipping sector, has given rise to several alternative energy options that can be used. There are several ways to utilize ocean wave energy to move ships, one of which is using a spring system that can move NACA. In this study the focus is on calculating the lift force from a NACA, followed by calculating the frequency generated by the spring system and finally calculating the thrust generated by the system. Starting with spring system modeling and NACA 0015. NACA lift force calculations will be carried out using Ansys Fluent Software, with variations in speed of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 knots. The frequency calculation will be carried out with Ansys Mechanical with variations in the number of spring windings 5, 6, 7 and 8. The thrust calculation is carried out with the help of the coupling system on Ansys Workbench which can connect the response from Fluent and Mechanical. The results of the simulation show that the spring system which has 5 coils has the most optimal results with a NACA lift force of 73816.6 N, a spring frequency of 7.979 Hz, and a thrust of 12.1498 at a speed of 30 knots.
