Abstract

The end of the Covid-19 pandemic is the first step in the reformation period for industry players, especially the furniture industry, through improving the quality of their products. PT Kurnia Nata Kencana is a company that produces wood panels, experiencing fluctuations in unit defects from year to year. The purpose of this study is to improve product quality by reducing defects with an analysis using a six sigma approach with define, measure, analyze, improve and control stages. The result of calculating the average DPMO is 216.6 and the sigma level is 4.6. The results of the Pareto diagram show that the highest type of defect is overdrawn and the factors that affect defects are method, humans and the environment obtained from the fishbone diagram. The dominant causative factor is humans with RPN 153 results from the FMEA table. Proposed improvements that can be made are in the form of training for workers, adding short break times, socializing risk management and using earplugs to maintain production quality while working. This proposed improvement is simulated through a monte carlo simulation with a comparison of current performance with 3 successful scenarios for reducing overdrawn defects. The sigma level value has increased from before the simulation, the current performance and each successive scenario is 4.63; 5,13; 5.19; 5.25; 5,42.
