Abstract

E-cigarettes are a new problem in public health. This study aims to find out what factors are related to electronic smoking behavior among adolescents and what are the regulations that regulate electronic cigarettes in Indonesia. The research method used is mixed methods. The data in this study consisted of primary and secondary data. The sample techniques in this study are multistage cluster random sampling and purposive sampling. Secondary data will be analyzed in univariate, bivariate (chi square and simple logistic regression), and multivariate (multiple logistic regression). The results showed that there was a relationship between age (POR 1.12), sex (POR 6.6), allowance (POR 2.17), education (POR 1.2), knowledge (POR 2.03), attitude (POR 1.53), facilities (POR 2.14), non smoking areas (POR 1.33, 1.36, 0.91, 1.12), anti-smoking advertisements (POR 1.14, 1.28), cigarette product offers (POR 1.5), cigarette advertisements (POR 2.3), teachers and parents who smoke (POR 1, 0.85), sellers (POR 1.3), and cigarette harm education (POR 1.2) toward electronic smoking behavior. The most dominant factor associated with electronic smoking behavior in adolescents is sex. The results of this study also found that there are still sellers who do not prohibit adolescent from buying electronic cigarettes and provide discounted offers.
