Abstract

Gas Power Plants in supply consumer electricity needs often experience fluctuating operating load changes. In addition, the compressor inlet temperature which is the initial air temperature entering the compressor has an influence on the gas turbine system because it can affect the thermodynamic processes of compression, heat addition and expansion. To increase the effectiveness of the performance of the PLTG, it is necessary to carry out an appropriate planning analysis on its operations, such as identifying opportunities for optimization of the PLTG system. In this study, an analysis of changes in the compressor inlet temperature was carried out in each variation of the operating load to determine the performance of the gas turbine system. Calculations to get this performance result are done theoretically and simulation using Cycle Tempo Software to compare the efficiency of the gas turbine thermal cycle. The results showed that under the same load conditions, a low compressor inlet temperature has an effect on the performance of the gas turbine, which can increase the performance results on the parameters of compressor efficiency, turbine efficiency and thermal efficiency of the gas turbine cycle. In addition, it can also reduce performance results on the Back Work Ratio and Specific Fuel Consumption parameters. Then the increase in operating load can also affect the performance of the gas turbine, which can increase the performance results on the parameters of compressor efficiency, compressor work, turbine work, turbine cycle efficiency. In addition, it can also reduce performance results on the Back Work Ratio and Specific Fuel Consumption parameters. The results of the gas turbine cycle thermal efficiency theoretically and simulation using software cycle tempo have a trendline that is close to high temperature conditions and low temperature conditions.
