Abstract

Black cumin (Nigella sativa) is a dicotiledon plant of the Family Ranunculaceae, and an herbal plant that is rich in values and religious history. Chemical content owned black cumin (Nigella sativa) is thymoquinone, which is the most potent chemical compounds in inhibiting inflammation. All pathological reactions both infectious and non-infectious are inflammatory mechanism. Inflammation is a response intended to eliminate initial injury. The characteristics of the inflammation, redness, heat, pain, swelling, and loss of function. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of anti-inflammatory extract of black cumin (Nigella sativa) on the soles of the feet male rats induced by carrageenan, using measuring devices Plhetysmometer. This research is an experimental design using the herb black cumin (Nigella sativa) that has been extracted by maceration. Samples using 25 white mice were divided into 5 groups. Each of these groups: positive control (dexamethasone), negative control (CMC), EEJH dose 1 (22.5 mg / kg), the dose EEJH 2 (45 mg / kg), and EEJH 3 doses (90 mg / kg). The results of the study were tested using One Way Annova and generate significant value of 0.008 (p <0.05). Furthermore, the analysis is done using the Post Hoc test which found a significant difference between the anti-inflammatory effects and the negative control treatment group EEJH dose 1, dose 2 and dose 3, with the results of 0.005, 0.008, and 0.004 (p <0.05) thus concluded that EEJH have antiinflammatory effects. However, there was no significant difference between the anti-inflammatory effect of the positive control group treated with EEJH, which means that all groups EEJH have anti-inflammatory effects, but lower when compared with dexamethasone.
