Abstract
ABSTRACT Indonesia is known as an archipelagic country, which makes Indonesia a multicultural country. This situation, of course, often causes conflicts between different groups, whether in religion, culture, ethnicity, or race. Many people feel that their group is the most correct, so they don't want to accept differences. They also think that difference is a destroyer of circumstances. When associated with the present, intolerance is also caused by the influence of gadgets. This is very unfortunate if it keeps happening. Supposedly, the difference can be seen as a beauty. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the sense of tolerance. These efforts require the role of various parties, ranging from educational institutions, government, and state institutions in charge of maintaining security in the society. Keywords: Intolerance, Society, Difference ABSTRAK Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara kepulauan, di mana keadaan tersebut menjadikan Indonesia sebagai negara multikultural. Keadaan seperti ini tentunya tidak jarang menyebabkan adanya konflik antar golongan yang berbeda, baik dalam agama, budaya, suku, atau ras. Banyak masyarakat yang merasa bahwa golongannya merupakan yang paling benar, sehingga tidak mau menerima perbedaan. Mereka juga menganggap bahwa perbedaan adalah sebuah perusak keadaan. Bila dikaitkan dengan masa sekarang, rasa intoleransi juga diakibatkan oleh pengaruh dari gadget. Hal ini sangat disayangkan apabila terus-menerus terjadi. Seharusnya, perbedaan bisa dipandang sebagai suatu keindahan. Maka dari itu, diperlukan peningkatan rasa toleransi. Upaya tersebut membutuhkan peran dari berbagai pihak, mulai dari lembaga pendidikan, pemerintahan, dan lembaga negara yang bertugas menjaga keamanan di masyarakat.
