Abstract

The fire case in Jakarta has reach 74% that caused by the electric short. Fire caused damage such as fatalities, injured people, and material. One of the building that has a risk of fire is school. Teaching and learning activities require supporting facilities such as AC, Computer Lab, Chemistry Lab, and Canteen, which have risks of electric and gas short circuit so that it will increase the risk of a potential fire hazard. The purpose of this research is to analyze the suitability of a means of lifesaving, the protection system and organising in public elementary school of Cilangkap 01 based on the regulation and the applicable standards. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive study design. The result of this research shows that the average suitability of a means of lifesaving is 32,1%; passive protection system of 70%; active protection system of 10.25%; organization of 10.7%. Passive protection systems that have met the standard are building construction, suitability of building materials, and compartmentation. A means of lifesaving that has met the standard are emergency exit and assembly point. The only active protection system available is APAR. The public elementary school of Cilangkap 01 got 30,9% for fire building protection system reliability. A recommendation of the research result is to remove the obstacle on the way out, by adding the emergency lighting, complete the requirements of the light fire extinguisher, form an organization for fire protection, make a procedure of emergency movement and do the fire training.
