Abstract

Bilateral relations are a form of international cooperation carried out by two countries that need each other. The ongoing relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia has been established since 1947, even though they are geographically far apart, the two countries have established good bilateral relations. This bilateral cooperation relationship is a cooperative relationship carried out in various sectors, one of which is in the trade sector. Where each country has its own product advantages that complement each other. Indonesia's bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia have also increased with visits made by the two heads of state in 2015 - 2019 to carry out and continue to improve various collaborations in various sectors. The visit resulted in 11 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and there were also efforts from each country to improve its economy. This period is an important period for both countries, but there are dynamics in trade that occurred in 2015 to 2019 where there was a decline in trade between the two countries, this is shown from the graph of exports and imports of the two countries which tended to decline, which should have happened. The increase saw the increasing intensity of closeness and encounters. So this research will answer how the obstacles and efforts to resolve bilateral trade between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the 2015 – 2019 period use the concept of Bilateral Relations, Comparative Advantage and Trade Barriers with a qualitative approach and case study methods. This research begins with the background of the bilateral relations between the two countries which will then identify the obstacles that occurred during that period and also discuss strategies and efforts to deal with them
