Abstract
The Middle East is a region that has conflict dynamics that range from terrorism, genocide, civil war, etc. These various conflicts created a sense of insecurity and comfort from their citizens, which made them flee their country as refugees. Most of them yearn for welfare and a decent life so they go to seek asylum in developed countries. Australia is one of the developed countries to which refugees from the Middle East have served as asylum country. Australia's geographic distance has resulted in refugees. from the Middle East making temporary stops or Transit in Indonesia. Indonesia that did not ratify the 1951 Convention and 1967 Protocol made Indonesia less able to meet the refugee's need for status because the granting of status was determined by UNHCR. The slow ability of UNHCR in determining the status of refugees Middle East makes Indonesia faced with non-traditional threats such as criminalism, cultural change, and infectious diseases. In this study, the authors use Non-Traditional Security, Non-Refoulement, Transnational, and foreign policy security as analysis tools. This study was made to determine Indonesia's policies in overcoming non-traditional threats from Middle East Pengungsi as a transit country to Australia and to determine the concrete steps of the Indonesian government in applying policies made to overcome the threat of non-traditional Middle East refugees. This study uses a research method with a qualitative descriptive approach or literature study to describe the problems in this research empirically.
