Abstract
Growth failure, including stunting is the consequence of imbalance between nutritional needs and intake. In Indonesia, of stunting reach 30,8% according to Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) 2018. Meanwhile, Toddler Nutritional Status Survey (SSGBI) 2019 shows reduction of stunting to 27,6%. Nevertheless, it is classified as high prevalence according to WHO. Ministry of health prioritize stunting reduction to 14% in the 2020-2024. Stunting is affected by nutrition, one which is exclusive breastfeeding Although various benefits of exclusive breastfeeding have been identified, its coverage for toddlers is only 37,7%. The relation between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting in Indonesia has not been specifically discussed on systematic review level of evidence. Thus, the aim of this study is to determine the relation between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting in toddlers. There were 12289 literature identified on PubMed, Sciencedirect, Scopus, MedLine, CINAHL, and Google Scholar; 68 full text screened, 47 studies assesed for its risk of bias according to JBI by 2 assessor. 37 Literature is included in the analysis. The relation between exclusive breastfeeding is found on 15 cross sectional studies and 10 case control studies. Exclusive breastfeeding is a protective factor against stunting. However, in this study, the duration of exclusive breastfeeding = 6 months with prolonged exclusive breastfeeding (> 6 months) could not be distinguished because the categories used in the studies does not discriminate between those category. In Addition, the frequency and quality of exclusive breastfeeding practices need to be considered, especially in areas with low socioeconomic settings. Key word : Stunting, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Determinant
